This Townhall is a space for the community to hear from young people and professionals who work with them to understand what they go through as those most likely to be targeted and experience violence, especially gun violence.

Angelo Young, 18 years old and a 2015 graduate of one of WI's & MKE's highest performing schools: Rufus King High School, was shot and killed in a robbery months after walking across the stage. This tragic loss was part of last year's increased city homicide rate and the 2nd highest in over 20 years!

The Journal Sentinel did an annual review of all the 2015 homicides and featured Angelo's picture with many others on the front cover. King students were reminded of the trauma they endured.

Luckily, King High School Student Govenment leaders have stepped up this school year to engage their peers around the death of a classmate, increased violence, and valuing Black lives by seeking thoughts and insight to solve this issue. Many times adults create solutions affecting youth without them. We don't plan on making that mistake! Join us for the last day in Febuary to hear directly from our youth and Rep. Bowen's Communtiy Partners.

What stress & trauma can be caused from experiencing and witnessing this violence?
What happens when MKE youth feel like even when they do everything right, they can still be treated wrong?
