LR the Liberal Redneck here, coming to you from a country that is a year away from electing a new government. This election can have an enormous impact on every level of government. Voter turnout is traditionally higher in a presidential election and greater numbers sets the stage for greater change. It is very important not to lose sight of what is at stake in the firestorm of campaign crap that will smother us for the next few months. We have the power to end the endless campaign after this election if we will just use it. We can stop the practice of buying elections after this election if we vote for candidates who agree with us. We can make sure that every citizen has healthcare in every state if we vote. We can make sure that every citizen, regardless of race, gender, religion or sexual preference has the same rights and privileges, if we vote. We can keep our service members out of the continuous state of war that has plagued us for generations, if we vote. I know that by the time the election finally rolls around we will all be sick to our stomachs with the endless ads, speeches, rallies, debates, conventions, polls, updates, scandals, robocalls, and door knockers. The temptation to say “Fuck It!” will be powerful. Please do NOT succumb to that urge. We CAN make things different. We CAN force changes to the way things are done. We CAN vote!
