Become a State Convention Delegate

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin holds an annual convention in June. Here are the details about this year's convention and how you can participate in party governance. For complete information, see the Official Call to Convention (pdf).

Delegate Deadlines:            
- Delegates must be submitted to the state party by 5:00PM on Friday, May 12
- Submitted delegates must be current party members by 5:00PM on Friday, May 19
- Delegate allocations by Congressional District (pdf)

Automatic Delegates:
As a reminder, the following officials are considered automatic delegates and do not count against your delegate quotas: County chairs, administrative committee members, U.S. Congressmen/women, U.S. Senators, state constitutional officers, and state legislators. All individuals designated as automatic delegates to the state and district conventions must also be current members of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin 14 days before the opening date of the district and state conventions.

Reserving a Hotel Room:
The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has a block of rooms set aside for convention guests, with a special rate of $119/ night. Rooms in the DPW hotel block are on a first come, first serve basis. In order to receive the group rate, guests must reserve their room no later than May 1, 2017. To reserve a room, guests can call the Madison Marriott West directly at (608) 831-2000 and mention the Democratic Party of Wisconsin room block.
 
DPW Officer Election:
Delegates to this year's convention will vote on DPW's five State Party Officers (Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer), to serve a two-year term beginning on July 1, 2017. Candidates for DPW Officer positions must file a Candidate Statement of Intent form and nomination signatures by Friday, May 12, 2017 at 5:00 PM CST (21 calendar days prior to the convention). These forms are available at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Headquarters and www.wisdems.org.

Male DNC Member Special Election
:
Delegates to this year's convention will also elect one male Democratic National Committee Member in a special election, to fill the remainder of a vacant term through the 2020 Democratic National Convention. Candidates for the Democratic National Committee position must file a Candidate Statement of Intent form by Friday, May 12, 2017 at 5:00 PM CST (21 calendar days prior to the convention).
